DID YOU KNOW....?

Hello all! During the next couple of weeks I will be posting a special series of blog entries that I will call "Did you know.....?"  Here I will share a couple of things that you may or may not already know about Casa Compasiva and our team.

Today´s entry is..... (DRUM ROLL PLEASE!)

"Did you know our team trains regularly?"

Hebrews 5:11-14 teaches us to grow and mature and strive for "solid food" in our spiritual lives.  This also transfers over into our professional lives and we are constantly occupying ourselves in training to distinguish normal and abnormal aspects of prenatal care and birth. We practice in order to form muscle memory so that in case of an emergency we automatically know what, where, and how to get things done in order that mama and baby get to a safe "place".  God is good and has been very gracious to us over the years in a way that I can count on one hand the times we have had to take quick action.  This however does not give us a false sense of safety!

If Lila was the "visionary" behind Casa Compasiva, then our loved Donaji has been the "anchor".  She has understood the vision, and brought it down to ground through investigation, teaching, training, and probably once in a while has wanted to "bop" us students on the head ;)  We were/are so blessed to have her guiding us in safe, evidence based practices.

Also, over the years we have been blessed with having knowledge passed to the midwives and doulas by an assortment of professionals.  We have been blessed to have OB/Gyn´s, MD´s, Midwives, Nurse Midwives, Traditional Midwives, Doulas, etc... come on different occasions to refresh or teach new knowledge on updated practices for suturing, IV placement, NNR (Neonatal Resuscitation), PPH (Postpartum Hemorrhage), blood-loss estimation, breech birth, and more!

I don´t have pictures of each one, but here are just a couple to give you an idea of what goes on.

A SPECIAL THANKS TO:

  • Adria Fuller
  • Teralee Fisk
  • Donaji Barahona
