What Happened in May….

  • 7 babies born
  • 26 women ministered to at the Mother’s Day Spa
  • 280 hours of lost sleep for staff members attending women in labour
  • 1 Trafficked woman encouraged not to abort baby
  • 71 pre-natal or post-partum consultations
  • 52 scripture/gospel messages shared
  • 3 doulas and 1 post-partum doula graduated from doula training course

May was an intense month! So much was happening...so many battles fought on so many fronts. Some battles we won. The gospel was proclaimed in power. Women and families were touched by the love of God and brought closer to Jesus. We celebrated the doulas who successfully completed their training course. The sleepless nights were not in vain.

But as we pressed forward in faith and service, the enemy pushed back bringing exhaustion and discouragement. And some battles we lost. The precious girl working as a prostitute returned to her pimp who insisted that she abort her baby. There were misunderstandings and scheduling conflicts among tired, overworked staff. Feelings were hurt and people worn out.

Yet we go on...We forgive. We resolve conflicts and we keep getting out of our warm beds in the middle of the night to go and attend women in labour. Why? Because God has given us this vision to serve the families of Oaxaca. Because even when we are worn out, we know that God is always leading us in triumphal procession in Christ Jesus and through us is spreading the fragrance of the knowledge of Him.

We know that we cannot do this alone. The financial summer slump is upon us and our funds are depleted. This month’s bills are paid but there is nothing in the bank for next month. Casa Compasiva urgently needs more partners in its ministry to the women and babies of Oaxaca. Would you consider supporting us as we fight these battles...whether we win or whether we lose? Thank you for considering either a one-time gift or regular monthly support. Thank you for your prayers.
