DID YOU KNOW... we serve families through more than just births?

Not only do we provide prenatal, birth, and postpartum care; we also provide other services to mothers, fathers and babies? We see the childbearing years as a great opportunity to make an impact in the lives of women and families, so we provide a variety of services.  Each of these services gives us a moment to share Christ.

Today I would like to share how Casa Compasiva also reaches out to the fathers.

Every Friday morning from 10:00 am until noon we have our prenatal class and we begin each class with a devotional given to us by Hermano (brother) Jorge. He especially enjoys sharing a series of studies through the book of Mark which provides an introduction to who Christ is and what he can and wants to do for us.

Also, during the prenatal classes, there is a time when the women do prenatal exercises.  This gives the men an opportunity to go out to the terrace and share a bit about their doubts and experiences of becoming fathers.  This time is vital so that Hno. Jorge can become more familiar with the men and their conversations can go to a more personal level of confidence where they can share their struggles and need for Christ.
The bonds formed during this time transcend into the postpartum period and beyond. Several of the men have formed friendships and meet occasionally for coffee and a chat.  One of these men recently called Jorge one Saturday, "Tomorrow I am getting baptized!". Since the birth of their daughter, he began attending church with his wife and had given his life to the Lord!  Other men have recommited their lives to Christ and their families.

It is thanks to our donors that we have this opportunity to impact the lives of young families! This is done through providing an environment that is conducive to creating long standing relationships where life changes can occur.
