Updated Prayer Requests: August 2011

Pray:

Since every week we are receiving several new clients, we still need more prayer sponsors to cover each mama in prayer throughout her pregnancy, labour and delivery, and six weeks postpartum. Please pray that God will put this need on the hearts of many prayer-warriors. (Could YOU be one of them?)

Pray for us as we get ready for inspection by the Secretary of Health. We are still trying to finish putting in a couple of sinks, and we need some essential big-ticket items like: fire-extinguishers, another oxygen tank, some emergency meds etc. Once we have it all together, then we'll be ready to submit our application for our license as a health facility. Pray that the Secretary of Health will not require us to be equipped to the same extent as a regular hospital, but that they will understand and appreciate our distinction as a birth center for low-risk patients only.

Pray for our lawyer to successfully procure an appointment for us with “Mane,” the wife of the governor of Oaxaca state. She oversees all the A.C.'s-- the Mexican non-profit societies--in Oaxaca. We would like the opportunity to present to her our vision for Casa Compasiva and hopefully gain her support. Perhaps she could excuse us from having to pay the same yearly licensing fee as a full-fledged hospital (approximately $1400 US). She could be very instrumental in helping to spread the word about Casa Compasiva.

Pray that the favour of the Lord our God be upon us and that He would establish the work of our hands!

(Ps. 90:17)

Praise for:

~ Financial gifts that arrived at just the right time for us to begin operations in January.  This gives us hope and confidence that the next wave of needed gifts likewise will be provided.

~ Sherry Bushnell, a skilled and godly midwife from Idaho, who came to help teach our doula course and mentor us as we took our first baby steps opening the birth center. She will act as a consultant for us from afar, and is also willing to come back to Oaxaca whenever we need her, PTL!  Sherry's birth center in Montana (check out Lavender and Roses Birth and Mothering Center) is now our sister birth center...such a great idea!
